Earliest Work: Sparks of Creativity

Future Years, About Grade 10.

In future years, I wish to be like Washinigton with his cherry tree.
Or sail the seas upon a raft, or fly a jet-plane very fast.
Perhaps I'll be like Tom Corbet and fly through space in a rocket.
Mountain climbing would be fun, to come so close to the burning sun.
A travelling salesman would be ideal; if I were a burglar, I would steal.
A clown is certainly very funny; he often makes a lot of money.
I know, I'll be a movie star and travel the world in a shiny car.
Hunting lions would be a thrill; I might be a dentist with a horrible drill.
Could I be a diamond miner? there definitely wouldn't be one finer.
I'll join the Navy with big submarines or be a chauffeur of classy limousines.
But sure whatever I will be, people will like me because I'm me.

Merry-Go-Round
When winter nips our noses, frozen fingers thaw from frost,
In vain we cry, "Oh summer, how was your friendship lost."
Then summer with her humid heat returns to parch our throats,
And we can't wait till winter to don our duffle coats.

Exposed
The whooping crane was on the wane till nineteen sixty one.
But in that great, momentous year, were counted forty one.
And anxiously the watchers searched, binoculars to the sky.
Though careful not to stand beneath just as the cranes flew by.
These patient men, revered, sincere, integrity unquestioned,
Watched not the birds, above referred, but nudists on convention.
